In January, 2005, I moved to Washington, D.C. and in May, 2005 to Beijing, to work for the State Department as an OMS (Office Management Specialist) at the U.S. Embassy. Now, two years later, I'm on to my next assignment at the U.S. Embassy Montevideo, Uruguay - and loving my life in South America!
I received my Bachelors' degree in Spanish from Portland State University in June, 2003(Go Vikings!). I have wonderful family and friends, and two cats - a black Burmese/Manx cross named Miel, and a Chinese refugee named QiuYe, or 'Autumn Leaf' in Mandarin, that I rescued in front of our Embassy in Beijing.
I'm definitely a music enthusiast! I am an avid fan and supporter of my friend, Nicole Campbell, and her amazing bandmates, Leah and Ned, and I try to get to every one of their concerts! (We miss Jay-jay-Jaaames B., but he's off playing piano for Everclear, so we'll forgive him.) I also play the piano and dabble in composing songs & writing lyrics. I love listening to almost any style of music. In Beijing I was a member of the Beijing International Festival Chorus, and when in Portland, I was a member of the Portland Symphonic Choir.
